Mother's Day program

Mother's Day program

I have a big family, but thank God it can still be a closely knitted one =) My siblings always make it a point to celebrate Mother's Day, Father's Day, Chinese New Year, my parents' birthday, special occasions, etc together. But ever since my dad passed away some 7 years ago, Father's Day had become somewhat "empty".

This year for Mother's Day, I am so superbly amused by the program my eldest sis planned for us. She said since it's not worth having a feast in restaurants (indeed, the exorbitant prices resturants charged for special occasions like this - multiply it by 16 persons ... you can imagine the BOMB!) we shall go for a feast at her house. Guess what she prepared for us? Hold your breath and do not be tempted to salivate ... =)

- Bak-kut teh (Pepper seeds pork rib soup)
- Drunken prawns
- Spaghetti carborna
- Japanese udon
- Thai green curry
- Some fried vegetables
- Freshly brewed coffee
- Longan almond
- Beer and red wine for the wine lovers

My fourth sis chipped in with grilled chicken wings, and my mum chipped in with steam crabs and me, with my usual "specialty" - the konnyaku jellies =)

Well, the items don't sound really complementary to have with one another in a single meal, but I'm just so amazed at her well-meant thoughts ... anyway, we all had a good time at her house, and enjoyed the spread of delights too *SMILE*

And if you think lunch is all, that's not it ... she had arranged to all go for a simple picnic (something we had not done for very, very, very long) for a while, then after that to Satay club for some more feasting. When I look at the program, I'm just so amused and thankful for a wonderful eldest sis that I have in her =)

Well, due to the sudden downpour, the picnic plan has to be shelved aside. Closer to evening when it was a lot cooler and the weather much better, we made the trip down to the seaside - and mum really loved it there - with the breeze from the sea, watching my brother-in-laws, my nephew and niece trying their hands with the fishing rod, etc. After a long day of gathering and time spent together, we decided it is enough and should forego Satay club and head home for rest.

Family ties are important, very important to me, and I really thank God for each member in my family. And we are all glad our mum enjoyed herself thoroughly through this simple, yet cherished, treasured moments together.
