Be in your best at all times!
Be in your best at all time!
I've always been aware that whenever I'm out at public places, there is a high chance of meeting some students from the school. Hence, I always make sure that I'm at my best at all times and not bring any disgrace to the school or even God whom I represent.
Somehow it always occur to me that I will meet students, but not parents of students - so in a way, I was caught "off guard" (no, no, no, I didn't do anything inappropriate =) when I met one of my student's parent in a shop. She "caught me off guard" when she said, "You look familiar ... do you know Pastor ...?" I was like "???" When she saw my puzzled look, she continued, "Do you worship at .... church?" and I said, "Yes, but not the Chinese church, it's the English church." and she continue, "Oh I know, you're a teacher - you're my daughter's teacher. My daughter is ...." and I was like "Oh so ... your daughter, fancy meeting you here, Mrs ..." =)
As I recall the incident, I was just so amused by the way I was caught so "offguard" and my perhaps puzzling, or even kind of initial "unfriendly" reaction. I'm reminded by the words of the apostle Paul in Acts 24:16, to "always strive to keep his conscience clear before God and men." In a way, this verse is a good guide and reminder for us to always be watchful and be at our best at all times, don't you think so?
