Baccalaureate service
Baccalaureate service
Had our final chapel for the graduating girls before they are officially released for study leave after tomorrow to prepare for their 'O's. Really thankful to the Chapel Committee for accomodating to my request to put this service on Thursday instead of Wednesday, coz I'll miss it then due to classes at theological college. It's the girls' last service and I really want to be with them!
Sigh* this chapel is always one with mixed emotions.
On one hand, there's so much of pain - pain of having to see all of you go, that after the 'O's, we will not see you everyday, and we won't be able to share laughters and joy as much as before. Well, besides the batch 2 years ago that were so close to my heart, this current batch is also one that is so dear to me - not just the prefects, the team in the Christian ministry, but also girls from my CCA.
Remember the times we went on a mission trip to Cambodia last year - going for our vaccination together, going shopping for our logistics together, doing all the stuff for fund-raising together, compiling the mission trip booklets together, rubbing shoulders and getting on each others' nerves during the trip, and so on? Remember the times we rehearsed for worships? Remember the times when I had to sit each of you down to go through your morning devotion sharing? Remember the times when I had to remind all of you that it's ok if the singing don't turn out tune - it's all for the Lord and we'll give to Him whatever best we can offer, even if it's so messy in the eyes of human?
I really enjoy this batch of girls (not that I don't enjoy the current batch I'm grooming =). I've seen many of you grown - intellectually, spiritually, and of course physically too! Many of you are so teachable too - remembering the things we said and "nag" to you ... always ready and available at the click of one sms request, etc =)
Sigh* it's so hard to let you go ... yet on the other hand, we have to let you go - with all our blessings, because you are all moving on to another phase in your life, and we can't selfishly hold you back to explore wider horizons.
Somehow, each year's Baccalaureate service is always a time when we see all of you "finally" appreciating your time at chapel ... "finally" appreciating and understanding what the teachers had done for you ... "finally" taking a step forward on your own accord to the Holy Communion table and receiving the grace of the Lord. It's very heart-warming, and I guess the tears from many of you makes it feel so much more cherished and memorable. Like what was said earlier in the chapel, "We can take you out of the school, but we can never take the school out of you."
May you all continue to grow to be women of grace and of fine character. Continue to shine for the Lord! God deserves the best!
