Hairdo ... and most honest opinion =)

Hairdo ... and most honest opinion =)

The first time in my life going to a salon to get my hair done for a dinner - I mean, yesterday =) The first time because all these years, I had short hair mah, how to do up short hair? *wink*

Hmm.. I told my hairstylist - give me a SIMPLE hairdo, I don't want too elaborate or too elegant kind, coz the original outfit I wanted to put on was a simple (really simple!) salmon colored dress. Now with that hairdo - which he insisted was SIMPLE, I had no choice but to match it with a black dinner dress ... Anyway, give him the credit lah, he's a wonderful hairstylist - very good with using just his fingers to style up your hair =) That's why my eldest sis always goes to him to have her hair done.

Well, honestly speaking, though quite a number of people (mum, sis, some frens during dinner, etc) said it was a nice hairdo, but I don't quite like it leh - it's JUST NOT ME! Makes me look .... (you fill in the blanks =) And the one person who dared to tell me the truth (which I appreciated it greatly) was none other than my pal! =) Haha, she had no qualms telling me off about things, and so do I to her too - had always been telling her and "nagging" her about some things she need to work on and change ... heehee, are you giggling at that already? *wink* I guess, what I appreciated so much about our friendship is that we know that by telling the honest truth (of course with tact), although it hurts, but we are actually building each other up, instead of tearing one another down.

Provers 27:17 reminds us that "As iron sharpens iron, so one man (woman included too =) sharpens another." I have always appreciated friends who dared to tell me off - not friends who take sides with me, if they know I'm at fault with certain things, or if I'm blinded by certain situations or truth. To me, this is very important. Well, as the youngest in the family (5 older siblings above me - big family hor =), in some ways, I had a lot of attention and love over the years, and though I wouldn't say I'm spoilt, but somehow, I just get my ways during the growing up years - which is BAD!

A friend was asking me what criteria do I have in seeking for a life partner - and of course besides the very, very basic criteria of having to be a godly man who loves God and His people, one of the MOST important thing is that that person must have no qualms telling me off if I'm in the wrong - and not to side me just because he wants to please me. In other words, a person who is impartial, who dares to disagree with me for my sake. Of course, on one hand, we girls all loved to be pampered and have someone siding us, but at the end of the day, we shouldn't be allowed to continue living in the bubbles and going from bad to worse (I mean, being overly spoilt lah).

I don't know about you - if you would still love your friends who dare to hurt you with the honest truth, but to me, these are the friends that are worth keeping and the most precious of all!
