Save the earth!
Save the earth!
There has been much talk in the recent period about the distress Mother Earth is currently undergoing, how Global Warming has become a more serious problems, etc, etc.
We see our little red dot coming up with efforts such as bring your own shopping bag or purchase the plastic bags you need, when you go grocery shopping on the first Wednesday of the month.
The school has also come up with a few indigenous ideas in our efforts to educate the students and to also play a part to save the earth.
First up, the washrooms are fitted with sensor lights - meaning even if the switch is turned on, after a while when the washrooms are unoccupied, the lights will go off automatically. The instant someone steps into the washrooms, the lights are turned on. Clever huh! Good idea of conserving energy and cut down utility bills. But some students had been "frightened" by the lights that went on suddenly - they thought it was something errie *SMILE*
Secondly, the school's going to have a no-fans, no air-con day - well, at least for half a morning on one of the day. That is to help us feel the effect of global warming and think twice before we turn on the electricity that is just a button away.
Thirdly, the school is also calling for a day where there will be "no meat, no seafood" in the canteen. And all the students go "HUH?? WHAT??" Haha, as if we can't live without protein, just for a day, feed on more greens lah =)
When I shared this with some of my church friends, one of my pastor said, "Yes, we should have a no air-con day in our church office too ... Hmm... let's have it on Fridays ... Haha, my off-day." =)
Well, jokes aside, I think the little bit that we do on our part can, and does help to play a part to saving this earth we are living in. What do you think you can do?
