Pray for revelation

Pray for revelation

A friend who came back for a break from mission work in X country challenged me to pray the prayer in Ephesians 1:17 "I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better."

What initiated this challenge was when he heard that I'm going into full-time studies in college in months to come. He felt that very often when we study, the tendency is simply to aquire intellectual knowledge, period. As a result, when we look at things in life, our perspectives are guided by our knowledge bank and sometimes becoming somewhat inflexible or miss out on revelations which God wants to bring to us.

He said that he has personally prayed this prayer for a couple of months and found that he has become more sensitive to things around, and to what God opened his eyes to - things that were common and plain became things of revelation and lessons which he could learnt.

Well, I must say that what he shared inspired and challenged me. For one, I would not want my ministry to be based solely on knowledge or intellect, and secondly, to feel the Lord's compassion on people and events, I would definitely need Him to open my eyes to reveal what He wants me to see so that I can be His effective servant.

"I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better." - will you be challenged to pray this prayer too? Let's see how God can change us as we yield ourselves to Him!
