In preparation for July
In preparation for July
Quite a number of colleagues, students and friends had already known about my intention to leave the school ministry in end May to pursue full-time studies in the college come this July. During these few months, I've also taken time to do a bit of "preparation" for the next 2 years when I'll be off work, joining the ranks of the "unemployed / jobless" =)
To start off, I've been scouting around for more plain and informal clothes (well, that wardrobe of mine is rather filled up with working clothes which are not appropriate for college lah), topping up my shoe rack, adding on to my hair / neck accessories pool, etc - especially when I'm still earning income till end May =) Haha, actually, I've long received an "imperial edict" from my mum - she has been complaining that my wardrobe has overflow and flooded and I'm to STOP buying more clothes =P ... But then, God has been really good - He has led me to some really good buys (see, I bring Him for my shopping too!!) - can you beat it, I've got skirts from BYSI at 70% off the normal price (ie $49) - good quality ones too! Ya, and some more from Verge at 50% off!!! And of course, many other stuff which are real good buys too *SMILE* So when I come home with all my new stuff, I've got to "smuggle" them into my room and pop them into my wardrobe =) Haha, you might wonder "why the "splurge"?" - it's because I don't believe full-time students should dress sloppily just because we are students. Agree? Or you don't?
I have also met with my church PPRSC (Pastor-Parish Relations & Staff Committee) for an interview to solicit the church support for my studies and they have also approved the request. So, they will be paying for all the college expenses (tuition fees, community meals, facilities, etc), giving me some allowance for books, and monthly allowance which I do not know how much (hmm ... dare not ask during the interview lah).
My family has also been a blessing in many ways - I mentioned in one of my Jan post that my second sis bought me a laptop, right? My eldest sis has also told me that if I'm in need, she will give me some money for allowance every month - I felt bad if I really get it from her coz we are all adults and moreover she has her own life and family to maintain and support too. I really can't thank God enough for my lovely siblings who doted on me really very much. My eldest sis was the one who fork out money for my piano lessons during my younger years, and in the recent years when I decided not to eat food offered to idols, she would retain portions of food for me whenever the family prepare for some special festivals / worship, so that I don't have to feed myself with Instant Noodles every time. My only prayer right now is that they will come to know the Lord too!
My second sis also suggest that I should sell away my car and use hers - but then, if she needs it, how?? especially when she has customers in town. Moreover, hers is a Nissan Cefiro, a 2 litre auto car - oh mine, I look like a little dwarf driving her car man!! And when the car doesn't belong to me, I would feel really pressurized driving it. Hmm... must think if this is the best solution ... I still love the dear vehicle that has been serving me so faithfully ...
Well, when July comes, definitely I'll need to tighten my belt a lot more, but what I do know is that God knows our every need and He will provide accordingly. A colleague was asking me how am I to survive come July and I told him, "I'll survive on A&W ... Air & Water" =) Anyway, I don't think God will "leave me in the lurch" - He has already given His promise (Luke 12:22-31) to provide for us and His Word alone is faithful and true!
