When you need to select new leaders
When you need to select new leaders
Every year around this time, I'll be "agonizing" over which new leader I should select to take over the committee. Humanly speaking, there's always the tendency to choose your favourite person - the one who can click with you the best, or even the one who proves to be so responsible in everything you assigned her to do.
I guess I've got more "agony" as the new leader I need to select is the Head of Devotion Committee for the Company. This person decides (in a way) where the spiritual direction of the Company is going to be as she challenges and encourages her peers to be excited about the things of God. Although there will be guidance from us officers, yet very much is left to how the person decides to bring up (or to keep status quo) the whole committee to play their role with regard to devotion, which is the backbone of what this CCA is all about.
My selection criteria is based very much on a few components:-
1) The spiritual sensitivity of the person
2) The teachability and humility of the person
3) The commitment of the person
Thus far, at least for the last few years, I've been able to be objective about my choice and God has also affirmed His choice as He brought growth into the person and she just bloom into a more mature person spiritually - there were lots that each of my previous leaders have learnt - from lacking in confidence to someone with confidence ... from being very "raw" in worship leading to one that can feel the spiritual atmosphere ... from someone who cannot take pressure to someone who learn how to cope with God's strength. Of course, there were moments of rebuke and pain, but I'm just thankful that these girls had been so teachable and willing to listen to comments and take up challenges.
I need to make a decision soon, for the next leader - in less than 2 weeks' time and I'm still unsure if the one that I've decided on is God's choice, or simply my choice. Please pray along with me ... for Spirit of wisdom and revelation =)
