On hair
I was rather tickled when L's mum (L is just one day younger than me, and my godsons' mother) "played" with my hair last week. We were casually chatting after church service and she was commenting on my long, soft and silky hair, not knowing of my intention to visit my hair-stylist the moment I step out of the church =) She was asking me how I maintained the condition of my hair and asking her daughter, which is L lah, to also keep long hair, use the shampoo I used, etc. I'm just so tickled by her. She's a lovely woman who's so much young at heart =)
Sigh* and I hated the decision I made to go trim my hair ... You see, my hair's really getting a bit long (too long for a vertically challenged person like me =) and feeling a bit heavy already, and also with the fringe touching beyond my eye brow, tickling my eyes. I told my hair-stylist to give me a trim, so he suggested giving the hair layers so that it doesn't feel too heavy and yet there's style. I agreed - but I thought I told him the layers with the shortest length MUST NOT be shorter than the neckline, otherwise it will cause the hair to curl outward, which was what I HATED!! And you guessed it! Some layers were around neck length and now I had hair curling outwards!! No, I'm not considering re-bonding at the moment - I won't want to stress my poor hair unnecessary unless there's absolutely no more choice than to do that ... so guess I'll have to hope that the daily wash will cause the hair to grow faster and longer and taper off the curls ... Haha.
On stepping down
The Sec 4/5 girls had already stepped down from their leadership positions as of yesterday. The new batch of leaders had been announced. I guess with their stepping down, it also signalled time for me to phase out gradually from the CCA. Sometimes too much of a familiar figure around hampers the growth and new leadership. Inevitably, our worries (I mean the Sec 4/5 girls and mine) would be on whether the new batch of leaders would be up to their job, and how would the CCA be heading with the new batch of leadership. Well, I guess when it's time to let go, it's time to let go. We cannot cushion things for too long if having to fall can help someone learn how to walk more steadily, ya?
On still meeting up
My ex-CSM (ex coz she has stepped down since yesterday) was asking me if she could still meet me every week to pray. Of course! and that was the answer I gave her. It was heart-warming to know that she benefitted from those times of sharing and praying and she would love to continue it as long as we can still meet up. The same goes for my ex-comm. head - I would love to do all that I could to encourage and be with them before I finally leave in end May. As for the new head, since I was the one who made the decision for her to head the committee, it's only fair that I try to walk through at least the initial few weeks with her, so that she can also help the new officer in charge of the committee.
On passion for work
It's not easy to meet people who had so much passion for what they are doing and give their best, especially in the service industry. Our family gathering dinner was made a fantastic time when such a waiter was around to play hospitality. Everything he did was with smiles and done so light-heartedly, versus doing it grudgingly or as a chore. We wanted to give him some tips but he said he's not allowed to accept tips, and the service that he provided was simply what his responsibility entails. WOW! It's rare to meet someone like that in the service industry - great for that restaurant to have him as their employee!
