Screws, metal piece, physiotherapy, x-ray and so on

Today's my first appointment with my physiotherapist as well as my very first review after discharge.

The physiotherapy was a rather good session, with the therapist teaching me how to massage my upper arms to reduce the swelling as well as the tension of the muscles (coz I have making sure the position of my arm need to be at 90 degrees, so have not been exercising my upper arm very much since). Well, with her help, I could bend my elbow a lot more, but of course there's stress to the muscles. Guess must be disciplined to do it on my own regularly from now on to strengthen my left hand.

After physio, I went straight to the outpatient clinic, waited for quite a while, only to be told that I needed to have an x-ray taken before the doctor could do a review. Sigh* waiting here, waiting there - that's what I dislike. Thankfully, the wait at the x-ray was rather fast and the doctor was also kind enough to wait for me to return from my x-ray (it was already 12plus, lunch time) so that I don't have to wait till 2pm to see him again.

Had my x-ray done and went back to the doctor's office. He seems quite satisfied with the healing of the wound and the progress of the recovery shown from the x-ray. WOW, guess what I saw from the x-ray?? Think I saw 5 screws and a metal piece. Scary!!! I told my doctor my stitches were not removed yet - supposed to be yesterday but it was a PH and I couldn't get it done at any polyclinic or at the GP. He then sent me to the dressing/treatment room for removal of stitches - and that's where I'm scare out of my wits, after hearing all the horror story about how painful removing of internal stitches can be.

It was painful - definitely, coz the internal stitches were rather tight now that the wound has healed. The nurse removed the 2 stitches outside (the beginning and the ending stitch that is) and tried to pull the internal stitches out, but it was painful!!! I was reciting Psalm 23 to distract myself, but alas! still I found myself "screaming" (not very loud lah but loud enough for mum who was waiting outside the dressing room to hear me ... haha) at the pain caused by the pull ...

Well, I don't know how long it will take to completely heal ... I don't know how long I can let my left hand be in a straighten position (now I gotta keep it at 90 degrees as much as possible) ... I don't know how long before I can drive again, and use my left hand in a more complete manner ... the road to recovery is definitely a long one, but I'm thankful that God has been granting very good healing and recovery. Thanks to all my brothers and sisters in Christ who has been praying, encouraging and cheering me on =)
