A little girl's prayer
A little girl's prayer
Everyone in our CG was very excited when we saw Sarah's prayer which she said during the Father's service 2 weeks ago published in our church's fortnightly newsletter. We had been telling her what a great job she had done when she courageously read out her prayers during the service - in front of a congregation of close to 1000, at least. The Children Ministry selected representatives from the Kindergarten section, the Junior section and the Youth section, and Sarah (she's P2) represented the 9am Junior section.
This was what she herself had written (without help from her parents, WT said) and prayed during the Father's Day service:
"Dear God, our Father in Heaven, we thank you that we have our dads to take care of us. We also thank you that we have You to take care of our dads. On this Father's day, we would like to say a special prayer for all the dads here in our church.
Dear God, we pray that you will help our fathers be strong and healthy. Please help them be good Christians in their work place and at home. We pray that you will help them do their work well and finish work on time so that they can come home to spend time with us. We pray that you will give our fathers extra energy to bring us swimming, cycling; extra patience to help us in our schoolwork, and extra strength to help mummy with the household chores.
We thank you God for always protecting us wherever we go and thank you for giving us our daddies.
Amen."
Very well-thought through prayer from the heart of a little girl, huh? And AA was telling us that he had wanted Sarah to end off with "I love you daddy" before she closed in prayer (of course he meant it jokingly) - and we were teasing him about his BIG ego. All of us were just affirming how well Sarah had done - shaking hands with her after that Father's Day service, making her feels like a "celebrity" =) And L was also joking with Sarah that now Sarah's prayer was printed in the church newsletter, it's no longer just a handshake, but an autograph from Sarah too that she wanted. Haha.
Anyway, really thank God for all the kids that we have with us in this CG - they are all very fortunate to have very God-loving, God-fearing parents who desire to bring them up in the fear and knowledge of God. Praise the Lord!
