On contextualizing
After our Taize worship experience last Friday, the whole jing gang decided that we needed to go for some food - we only had porridge for lunch and by 3.30pm of the day, most of us are like feeling jelly from hunger =P I guess we had a bit of "overdosage" of the Taize "chants", a friend started to "chant" using these words "I'm very hungry ... are you going to eat? (x4)" Hmm... should we say the college has taught us well? We've learnt to contextualize what we've learnt ... haha

One more ...
Are you familiar with the song "I love bananas"? It goes: I love bananas, I know that mangoes are sweet, I like papayas but nothing can beat, the sweet sweet love of God.

A contextualized version done by YH's friend: I love lor-mai-kai, I know tau-sa-paos are sweet, I like the siew mai, but nothing can beat, the sweet sweet love of God"
- Hey, contextualizing, we're learning!! *wink*

TV is like (daily) Quiet Time
I was telling some friends how I had been living like a hermit since semester begins and I really had not watch a single TV program ever since, and a friend responded, "How can? TV is like Quiet Time - must do everyday ..." =)

Usefulness despite handicap
It was rather unusual that I meet with someone who's deaf - but I was asking a supermarket employee for help in one of the supermarket in locating an item, and he sign to me that he's deaf. Despite his handicap, he was really helpful and helped me locate the item that I needed in a nearby rack. I guess I'm impressed with his very positive and helpful attitude despite his handicap, and am also once again reminded and thankful to God for blessing me with wellness in the physical aspects of life.

New things aren't necessary better
I wasn't aware that the cashcard inside my IU was defective - in fact, it was a new card that I had replaced for less than 2 months - if not because my previous one would be expiring soon. Thinking that this new one would be as "hardy" as the previous one, I left it inside my IU (enclosed by the IU cover). Little did I know that the new cashcards these days are only "4-hour heat resistent", hence leaving it in the IU for prolong periods of time caused the ends of the cashcard to bent/"melt". Read on below to see what trouble this new cashcard gave me ... Nevertheless, I've came to realize "new things aren't always necessary better".

On some recent "downs" and blessings from God
I've encountered a number of "downs" recently, which just frustrates me, especially amidst my already busy schedule - guess God is trying to get me to slow down?? Anyway, what happened was first, I scratched the front of my car (below the license plate) when making a 3-point turn when out with mum to run errands. Then I had a flat tyre the next day when I was going to head back home from college after class - good thing it was in the college and I had no problems getting my friends to help me with changing the tyre, but alas, means I had to visit the tyre shop and $$$ flying away. And then when on my way back home after bringing mum for her blood test one morning, I passed through the ERP gantry (it was like 1 minute before it turned off the operation) and the IU doesn't read (there's cashcard in there) and of course, LTA sent me a love letter ... As if that was all, I got hit on my left wrist by the shower head in my bathroom - and that shower head was like aluminum kind (those hotel kind) and I was like "OUCH!!!!". The shower head was not resting properly in its stand, but what I'm really thankful for is that at least it didn't hit my head - I could have ended up with concussion and a fractured skull ...

If I were to use layman terms, I guess the word to describe all these would be "so unlucky", but then again as I looked back, even though all these things were undersirable, but amidst what happened, God's hand was there. Having brought my vehicle to check on the IU, I'm thankful enough that God's favour was upon me and LTA agreed to waive the fine and I just had to pay for the ERP charges. I'm also thankful to receive a card and blessing from a sister-in-Christ who chose to remain anonymous - it was really a pleasant surprise from the Lord!!

In every corner, in every affair, in every moment of life - God is there, and for that I'm thankful.
