The "face" of love

The "face" of love

Was browsing the web for some good quotations and there are a few quotes from St Augustine which I found to be quite interesting. One of it is this ...

"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like."

Even when James wrote the epistle of James, he advocated works on top of faith - works not in the sense that we "work" to earn our salvation, but our salvation and faith resulting in works of love towards others who have not known God. James 1:27, which is one of my favourite verse reads "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

God is love, and Jesus shows us this God and this love, manifested in human form. Let us go and do likewise, showing this love to the world as the Lord has exemplified for us ...
