Home alone?? Nope, I'm not scared =)
As mentioned, I'm home alone for another few more days where mum takes her well-deserved break. Incidentally, xiao-mei's hubby had to be outstation for work in around the same period of time, and xiao-mei had mentioned before that she dare not be alone at home, especially at night. Hence, I invited her over to stay with me - and she did ... yesterday night, coz she had company on other nights ...
It was a great time together as we watched a movie that she brought along ... chit-chat about ourselves, our life, our struggles, etc - on the bed as we, well ... either struggle to fall asleep, or struggle to keep awake hearing each other - whichever ... but it was a good and fruitful time.
Our conversation came to the topic about being alone at home and xiao-mei showed her "envy" that I had such "guts" to be all alone on my own in such a big house (she said my bedroom is the size of her living room =) I just replied her that I've never felt afraid about being all alone at home, or fearful about night-times, etc. It was interesting to realize one fact when xiao-mei asked me the question, "Did you grow up in a very secure enviroment? Was your childhood a pleasant one??"
And that struck me - yup, I had a great growing up environment - a great family, a great bunch of siblings to dote on me, enough finances to make ends meet though dad had to work very hard to see 6 children through good education. And I guess I had to agree that my sense of security (besides it coming from God) also steam from a secure childhood. And as I realized this fact, I'm filled with gratitude and thanks to God for providing me with such a loving and safe environment all these years.
Well, different people had struggles and fears for different reason ... and for whatever that was shared with me by xiao-mei, I know that she will one day be able to overcome them with the strength, power and by the grace of God =)
