An "extra-ordinary" day
An "extra-ordinary" day
Hmmm... today's my birthday =) but it's spent in a rather "extra-ordinary" way .. haha. Why? Coz I'm home alone!! - sis has brought mum out for her well-deserved holiday and I'm "left behind" looking after all the kiddies at home =( and of course, with my hand condition, I'm not too keen to travel too ...
It's quite an "extra-ordinary" day in quite a number of ways ...
- I spent it entirely on my own the whole day, mostly at home since I can't rather venture out as yet
- I spent it with the Lord - a quiet and blissful day, and thankful as I remember this day that He brought me to earth years ago
- I went on an "adventure". Being unable to cook in my condition now, I "run out" of instant food that I can "feast on". Had wanted to buy lunch at the coffee shop round the corner, but boy, it was raining so heavily!! I decided I have to stock up something in my fridge (there are uncook veg, meat, etc but I can't cook them!!) so I decided "maybe I should try driving out - a short distance to the nearest NTUC - and see if I can manage". Driving wasn't an adventure at all on normal circumstances, but ever since I broke my elbow, it has been a real challenge even just changing gear (yes, I'm an ardent believer of manual car ... STILL). I choose a time where I know traffic condition wouldn't be that bad, and although it was still raining, I went ahead in this "adventure". I committed the journey to God and asked that He watched over my safety and enable my driving ... and I think almost 2km down the road, I began to "regret" - I can't switch gear very well coz my left hand still feels weak - I had to quickly use my right hand to push the gear box and quickly bring it back onto the steering wheel ... dangerous huh ... come to think of it, I shudder and am amazed at my "guts". Anyway, I managed to get some things and came home safely, but I've also decided - I can't drive YET!
- Although I spent the day quite on my own, but I still feel very loved and feel the warmth as I receive wishes from friends/ex-colleagues/GB,PL girls/church, etc - through Facebook messages, sms-es, emails, etc. I had wishes from Australia and Thailand =) and sis also called back to wish me, besides getting her colleage (her dispatch rider) to get me a birthday cake =)
Actually, my family had already had a celebration for me last Sunday when we had lunch at Ellenborough Market Cafe, spending some time together =) Well, the "celebration" will continue tomorrow, where I'll meet up with Twin and a few friends - Twin had an ex-colleague's wedding dinner tonight (and she had tried persuading me to go, but to no avail =) till then ...
