So-called Christian testimony???
So-called Christian testimony???
I was at the neighbourhood supermarket running some errands for my mum when an Indian girl came up to me and acknowledged me. She had recognized me as a staff from the school and came to say hello =) How sweet of her, yet at the same time I'm just reminded again "you never know who's watching you ..." and will our testimony at all times be glorifying in the eyes of the Lord?
Along the same line about testimony, I was really upset after hearing what a colleague shared with me - an incident that happened during last weekend to she and her husband. She said her husband was driving with some CG members in the car and as he tried to change lanes, he had failed to check on the blind spot before doing so, hence causing the car behind him in the lane which he wanted to change to to jam brake. The fortunate thing is that there wasn't any accident. The unfortunate thing however was that, the driver was so upset with my colleague's husband that he tailgate their car for quite a distance and then seized an opportunity to bang their car from behind. Silly isn't it?
My colleague said when both drivers came out of the car, the road-bully said he saw the cross hanging in my colleague's car and was upset that her husband did not even apologize for his mistakes when he changed lane. Apparently, my colleague's husband was recovering from momentarily shock then when he realized how close he was to creating an accident after he changed lane, and he just didn't realize that he ought to at least signal his apology to this road-bully. Well, the "interesting" thing is that this road-bully even had the guts to say that he too is a Christian!!! My, my colleague said he was so aggressive and they just had to drive their cars to a nearby police post/station for fear of their safety when they realized they were tail-gated. And what would your reaction be if you hear that this road-bully actually has his children travelling with him inside his car? What a way to "educate" his own kids huh ...
I guess that's not the only ugly things I had heard about Christians doing. Mum was also telling me quite a while ago that my cousins' children who are Christians - who got married in a church, are now having marital troubles. Why? Because the guy had an extra-marital affair, and that happened barely six months after he got married!! Very heart-breaking, right? I can understand how "stumbled" my mother felt, for I was at the wedding reception with her, and I heard with my own ears how the groom pledged to love his bride, and how he promised the bride's family that she will be in good hands, and all the vows made before the pastor and the altar. Alas, where had all these vows gone to? What has become of the seriousness and commitments to the oaths made?
What has become of the world? What has become of Christians? Are we Christians because it's a convenient thing to do? Are we Christians because our parents are ... our grandparents are ... Hey, people! Remember although we did not need to pay a price for our salvation, yet it cost Someone His very life. It's wrong to say that salvation is free - because it's not - it costs the life and blood of Jesus, and the agony He went through for you and me. How can we say salvation is free and brush aside the commitment and desire to live lives pleasing to God. Hopefully this verse can WAKE US UP!!
Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven."
Little wonder why many people choose not to accept the love of God because of the so-called testimonies of so-called Christians. Jesus had this to say to us who "carelessly" stumbles another person ... "But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea." Matthew 18:6
